“No individual has control over polling station albums” – NPP dismisses regional chairmen’s comments

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed recent public pronouncements by its Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, saying their comments do not represent the position of the party.

In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong and issued on Sunday, September 28, 2025, the party urged the public and stakeholders to disregard the remarks made by the two regional executives.

“The National Leadership of the New Patriotic Party urges the public and its stakeholders to disregard recent public pronouncements by the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, and the Bono Regional Chairman, Mr. Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, as their statements do not represent the ideals and practices of the party,” the statement said.

The NPP also stressed that no individual within the party has unilateral authority over the compilation of polling station albums, a matter that has generated controversy in recent weeks.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the compilation of the polling station album strictly adheres to established compliance procedures,” the statement noted, adding that “the National Secretariat will, at the appropriate time, issue clear and transparent guidelines, protocols, and procedures designed to safeguard integrity, credibility, and fairness at every stage of the process.”

Addressing concerns about the timing of the party’s presidential primaries, the statement dismissed claims that the January 31, 2026 date was chosen to favour a particular aspirant.

“The Party affirms that this assertion is unfounded. The National Council exhaustively deliberated and took the decision in the Party’s supreme and strategic interest. Given the calibre of the members of the National Council, no individual can manipulate or influence a decision in his or her favour,” the party clarified.

According to the NPP, the decision to hold an early congress is to “provide the Party with sufficient time and strategic advantage to reorganise, reposition, and recapture power in 2028.”
