No president has done more than Akufo-Addo – Asare Bediako

Journalist and aspiring Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Gordon Asare Bediako, says former President Nana Akufo-Addo delivered the strongest performance of any leader in Ghana’s Fourth Republic, citing major gains in education, health, infrastructure and digitalisation.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Afternoon Ghana with Bright Amaning, Asare Bediako described Akufo-Addo’s record as unmatched, arguing that no previous president has achieved as much within the same constitutional era.

He pointed to the Free Senior High School policy, which he said has expanded access to education for more than 1.2 million students nationwide.

He also emphasized the construction of 111 hospitals across the country under the Agenda 111 initiative, describing it as evidence of what he called an unprecedented infrastructure drive.

According to him, the administration’s impact went beyond bricks and mortar to include reforms that changed how citizens interact with the state.

Asare Bediako cited the digital address system as a major step in improving service delivery and national planning.

He also referenced the Planting for Food and Jobs programme, which he said helped boost agricultural production and support farmers, as well as the One District One Factory initiative, which he noted has created thousands of jobs across the regions.

He dismissed criticism of the Akufo-Addo administration as selective, arguing that opponents often overlook these achievements while ignoring the effects of global shocks such as the COVID 19 pandemic and the Russia Ukraine war on Ghana’s economy.

Asare Bediako urged supporters of the governing party to actively defend the former president’s record, describing the debate over Akufo-Addo’s legacy as a critical political battleground ahead of future elections.
