Northern Regional NPP rejects High Court ruling for rerun in Kpandai constituency

The Northern Regional Executive Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rejected a ruling by the Tamale High Court ordering a rerun of the Kpandai Constituency parliamentary elections, describing the judgment as a “travesty of justice.”

The party announced its position at a press conference in Tamale.

On Monday, 24 November 2025, the Tamale High Court, presided over by Justice Emmanuel Plange Bart-Brew, directed a rerun of the Kpandai Constituency parliamentary elections.

The decision followed months of hearings on an election petition filed by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) challenging the outcome of the 2024 polls.

The ruling has generated widespread debate in the Northern Region and in Parliament, prompting the NPP’s regional executives to publicly state their objection.

The executives questioned why a petition seeking the nullification of results from 41 polling stations resulted in the cancellation of the entire constituency results.

Yusif Danjuma, the Regional Communications Director, of the NPP expressed concern over what he described as the “loud silence” of government and the ruling party on allegations that the judgment was influenced, warning that such developments threaten the integrity of Ghana’s democratic processes.

The Northern Regional NPP leadership has therefore rejected the High Court ruling, insisting that there will be no legally binding rerun in the Kpandai Constituency.

They argued that the court’s order was unlawful and undermined the will of the people.
