The Canada Branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the Government of Ghana to take action over what it describes as continued attacks and divisive commentary by US-based political activist Kevin Taylor against former Second Lady Samira Bawumia and the NPP.
Yakubu Alhassan, popularly known as BigMo, the NPP Canada Branch Organizer, made the call in a statement issued under the heading “Press Alert – NPP Canada.”
According to Alhassan, the government should call Kevin Taylor to order within 48 hours over his alleged comments against Samira Bawumia.
“We are calling on the Government of Ghana to call NDC activist Mr. Kevin Taylor who is based in USA to order within 48 hours over his continuous attacks on our former Second Lady Samira Bawumia and divisive commentary against the NPP,” Alhassan said.
He warned that if the government fails to take action within the stated period, NPP organizers would intervene.
“If no action is taken, we the organizers will intervene,” he said, adding that any response from the organizers would be made in English “for the whole world to understand.”
Alhassan also alleged that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is behind Kevin Taylor in connection with his recent comments concerning Samira Bawumia.
He claimed that the NDC was supporting or backing the activist, although he did not provide evidence in the statement to substantiate the allegation.
The NPP Canada organizer further warned that the party’s organizers could respond against NDC members if the government does not act.
Despite the warning, Alhassan said the NPP Canada Branch stands for peace and discipline.
“We stand for peace, discipline, and the good name of the NPP,” he said.
