NPP ends boycott of Media General platforms

The main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced the immediate lifting of its boycott of all platforms operated by Media General, operators of TV3, 3FM, Connect FM Onua TV and subsidiary platforms, following what it describes as constructive engagements between the two sides.

In a statement dated February 12, 2026, the party said the decision covers “interviews, panel discussions, press conferences, and media briefings involving party executives and representatives.”

According to the NPP, the move comes after discussions with the media group’s management, which resulted in an agreement on new working arrangements.

“This decision follows constructive discussions between the party leadership and Media General’s management,” the statement said, adding that “both parties have agreed on ground rules to uphold higher professional standards and to ensure fair and balanced interactions that serve the public interest.”

The New Patriotic Party further expressed optimism about renewed cooperation.

“We look forward to renewing our partnership with Media General as we work to strengthen Ghana’s democracy.”

In a swift response issued on February 13, 2026, Media General Management welcomed the party’s return to its platforms, describing the development as a positive step for public discourse.

“We have consistently upheld the highest standards of journalism, ethics, and values, delivering fearless reportage and impartial coverage,” the media group said.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to professional journalism, stressing that “our commitment to these principles remains unwavering yesterday, today, and always.”

Media General also assured the public of its continued dedication to responsible reporting, noting that “Ghana is assured of our continued dedication to truth and fairness.”
