NPP Flagbearership Race: Rejection Of Bawumia Will Confirm Akans Hate Northerners – Bugri Naabu

Former Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Daniel Bugri Naabu has opined that the rejection of Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia in the upcoming Presidential Primaries will be a confirmation that Akans in the NPP hate northerners.

According to Bugri Naabu, there is a perception that the NPP is an Akan party hence the defeat of the Vice President will be a reinforcement of the perception that the northerners in the party are only fit for playing second fiddle to the Akans.

Bugri Naabu who was speaking on the sidelines of the bid of Dr. Bawumia to become the next flagbearer of the NPP noted that the party traces its origin from the Danquah-Busia-Dumbo Tradition.

He continued that since the previous leaders of the NPP trace their origin to the Danquah-Busia factions, it will only be fair that the Dumbo faction gets the nod for the first time.

Daniel Bugri Naabu who is now a paramount chief of the Namog Traditional area in the Northern region therefore indicated that failure to follow the succession plan by voting against Dr. Bawumia will confirm the perception northerner are not suitable for presidential positions.

“Nana Akufo-Addo has come to choose Mahamud Bawumia, he has also filed to be the flagbearer. If this time they don’t vote for him, the Akan reject voting, it means they hate northerners that is simple! They only say we are together by mouth but they don’t mean it! So we northerners we are to learn sense this time. How many northerners have become presidents? Nothing,” he said.

The former Northern Regional chairman of the NPP who was speaking to Accra-based Joy News continued that “now if Bawumia is rejected by the Ashantis it means we are not together….some of the MPs or former MPs have started saying that we northerners we are good for Vice so they are insulting us.”

“So we don’t know how to become president but only vice? I don’t think it is the best. I’m appealing to everybody to have in mind that at the end of that day, Dr. Mahamud Bawumia will be voted.
