NPP internal elections: Ken Agyapong is the most exciting candidate — Felix Kwakye Ofosu

Former Deputy Communications Minister under the erstwhile John Dramani Mahama administration, Felix Kwakye Ofosu says Kennedy Agyapong is the most exciting candidate among the ten New Patriotic Party presidential aspirants.

Analyzing the candidates, the Abura Asebu Kwamankese NDC parliamentary candidate claims Alan Kyerematen’s influence and popularity was at its peak in 2007 when he contested President Akuffo Addo in the primaries in 2016 but has since waned since then.

He, therefore, believes the Member of Parliament for Assin North Kennedy Agyapong is the most exciting candidate in the upcoming NPP presidential primaries.

“Unfortunately, Alan Kyerematen does not appear to have pulled his weight. It appears to me… with the greatest of respect to him, that the times have passed him by. Maybe, his best showing was in 2007. And if perhaps, he had put in more effort, that was his best opportunity. I don’t see how Konadu Apraku and Co. will make any showing”

“The most exciting candidate I must say in terms of rhetoric, and posturing is Kwabena Agyapong,” he noted on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

According to Kwakye Ofosu, claims by Kennedy Agyapong that he is in a position to handle the country’s economy better than the current administration when elected for the general elections in 2024 are legitimate.

Adding to his submission on the socio-political show, Felix Kwakye Ofosu said, “It is legitimate. It should not provoke any extreme anger…the truth is that whiles Kennedy is not anybody’s favourite in this country, the things he has said in respect of Bawumia’s management of the economy in this country is legitimate. It is something that can be borne out by the facts and everybody knows it. So yes. Bawumia may lead the pack because it appears that there is a dip in quality…”

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set November 4, 2023, as the date for its presidential primaries to select a flag bearer for the general election in 2024.

However, there will be a Special Congress on August 26.
