NPP orchestrated Naa Koryoo’s arrest to intimidate her – Essikado-Ketan NDC PC

Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Essikado-Ketan constituency, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of orchestrating the arrest of Phillis Naa Koryoo to intimidate her.

Naa Koryoo, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Awutu Senya East, was apprehended on June 2 in connection with a firearm discovered in her vehicle and her involvement in a violent altercation between NDC and NPP supporters at the Electoral Commission office in the Awutu Senya Constituency.

However, appearing on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, described the detention as mere politics to scare her into silence.

“I think it’s just a way to intimidate her, to cow her into submission so that she can let go of her constituency,’ Dr. Ayensu Danquah said.

“But I’m so glad that the people of her constituency would never allow this to happen,” she added

Dr. Ayensu Danquah defended Naa Koryoo’s possession of a firearm, saying, ‘She duly registered it for self-protection… there is nothing wrong with it.”

She also alleged that the police failed to protect Naa Koryoo during a previous incident, leaving her with no choice but to take matters into her own hands.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has denied allegations that senior police officials orchestrated the arrest at the behest of higher authorities, as claimed by NDC Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.
