NPP Primaries: Aspirants to pay GHS70,000 in constituencies with incumbent MPs

In preparation for the 2024 general elections, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has released information regarding nomination dates and filing costs for candidates running for parliamentary seats.

The party states that aspiring members of parliament must pay a thirty-five thousand Ghanaian cedis (GHC35,000) non-refundable filing fee.

Nonetheless, a fifty percent (50%) refund on the filing fee will be given to women, people with impairments, and young people (18–40 years old).

Candidates must also pay a non-refundable development cost of forty thousand Ghana cedis (GHC40,000) in addition to the filing fee.

The party announced nominations for parliamentary candidates will open on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, and finish on Monday, December 25, 2023, in a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.

The party has made it clear that no aspiring candidate will be excluded from receiving nomination paperwork.

Aspiring candidates can acquire nomination forms from the regional secretariat if they are not allowed to obtain them at the constituency level.

The forms can be downloaded from the party website (www.newpatrioticparty.org) if they are also rejected at the regional level.

Forms printed from the party website must be turned in to the National Secretariat of the Party’s General Secretary.

Nomination forms downloaded from the website by aspiring candidates are required to be accompanied by documentation proving they were not allowed to acquire the forms at the constituency or regional levels.
