The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tatale Sanguli constituency in the Northern region expelled 58 members over allegations that they did not support the party’s official candidate in the recently concluded elections.

The constituency chairman claims in a letter signed by him and sent to the national and regional executives—which Metrotvonline had been able to gather view—that the members voted against the party’s candidate in the elections, which is against the NPP’s constitution and the reason for the suspension.

Napare Prosper, a former Constituency Communication Officer and one of the suspended members, refuted the accusations in the meantime. He said he has demanded a fair hearing and has given the constituency chairman 24 hours to prove the accusations.

“I have seen the letter on social media saying that I have been suspended for not supporting the MP but I want to state on record that I did not campaign against the duly confirmed candidate.

“I did not in any way campaign against the candidate and I did not breach any of the party’s constitution so they should give us a fair hearing.”

Below is the suspension list.
