NPP’s Alhaji Osman Masawudu Breaks Silence On Car Seizure Incident With NIB

Alhaji Osman Masawudu, the 3rd National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has alleged that operatives from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) attempted to unlawfully seize his personal vehicle in Shiashie-East Legon, Accra.

Speaking with Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Adwenekasa on Accra-based Original TV, Masawudu recounted that the incident occurred when he sent his driver to purchase bread. According to him, six men who identified themselves as NIB personnel confronted his driver and tried to forcibly take possession of the vehicle.

“My driver called me from Shiashie where he had gone to buy bread. Six men claiming to be from the NIB attempted to forcibly take the car from him,” he stated. “I immediately went to the scene and we proceeded to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), where I was vindicated. All the documents prove the car belongs to me.”

Masawudu clarified the ownership of the vehicle, a customized Toyota Land Cruiser, emphasizing that it is not state property. He explained the car was originally purchased in Dubai in 2020 by then-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as a personal vehicle. After using it for over a year, the former President handed it to NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, who later passed it on to Masawudu.

“I even went to the President to confirm the ownership, and he personally handed over the car documents to me,” he said.

He further accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of orchestrating a pattern of intimidation against political opponents, warning that such actions undermine democratic principles.

“The illegal attacks on Ghanaian citizens, particularly from the NDC, are becoming too much because they are in power now,” Masawudu claimed.
