NPP’s Ernest Anim wins Kumawu by-election

Ernest Yaw Anim, a candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been elected as the new member of parliament for Kumawu in the by-election that was held on May 23, 2023.

Mr. Anim polled 15,260 of the valid votes cast, representing 70.91%, with the National Democratic Congress’ candidate, Kwasi Amankwaa, and the two independent candidates trailing.

Kwesi Amankwaa of the NDC got 3,719 votes, or 17.28% of the total, while Kwaku Duah (one) received 2,478, or 11.52%. Kwaku Duah (two) received a pitiful 62 votes, or 0.29%, of the total.

The Kumawu by-election was necessary since the sitting MP, Philip Basoah, passed away in March 2023.
