The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Techiman South, Mr Martin Adjei-Mensah, has retained his seat after a court-ordered re-collation of results.
He polled 46,663 votes to defeat his closest contender, Mr Christopher Bayere Basongti of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who secured 43,429 votes.
The re-collation was conducted at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) regional office in Accra, following a directive from the High Court.
The Court’s order was in response to mandamus applications filed by NPP candidates, seeking transparency and the completion of outstanding collation processes in several constituencies, including Techiman South.
The EC has also declared Mr Charles Forson of the NPP as the winner of the Tema Central constituency after a recount of two outstanding polling stations.
The re-collation exercise was conducted under strict security, and the results have brought an end to weeks of uncertainty in the Techiman South constituency.
