The National Roads Safety Authority (NRSA) has cautioned the public against the patronage of the recently banned Toyota Voxy Vehicles.
The authority says the vehicles have been structured as right-hand drive and that the conversions to left-hand drive to suit public transportation is a violation of manufacturer regulations and poses serious safety risks to commuters.
According to the authority, the Toyota Voxy Vehicles were manufactured purposely as family minivans and not for long distance trips in commercial transport.
The conversation of the vehicle from right-hand drive to left-hand drive was undertaken without approved standards, certification and compromises critical safety systems, increasing the he risks of mechanical failure and usage for operations.
Passengers have been advised to resist the patronage of the vehicle especially in long distance travels.
The National Roads Authority (NRSA) in collaboration with relevant institutions are taking steps to enhance safety in the traveling of the public
