Students at Sakyikrom M A School have received lessons on crime prevention and responsible citizenship from officers of the Nsawam Female Prison as part of efforts to encourage young people to make positive life choices.
The sensitisation programme, held on Wednesday 1 July 2026, focused on the causes and consequences of crime, the importance of discipline, integrity and respect for the law, and practical ways pupils can avoid criminal behaviour.
The officers urged the students to resist negative peer pressure, make responsible decisions and report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
They also explained how decisions that may appear harmless can gradually lead to criminal behaviour if left unchecked. The pupils were encouraged to uphold strong moral values and remain committed to their education and personal development.
The outreach formed part of the Ghana Prisons Service’s efforts to promote public safety through community engagement under the Think Prisons 360 Degrees Initiative.
The programme was organised to raise awareness among young people and encourage them to become responsible citizens who contribute positively to their communities.
