The government has announced a fifty percent reduction in admission fees for first year students entering Nursing and Allied Health Training Institutions from the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Ministry of Health said the initiative is part of the “No Fee Stress” policy, a flagship programme aimed at easing the financial burden on tertiary students. By absorbing half of the approved fees, the government hopes to give more young people the opportunity to pursue careers in nursing and allied health.
In a statement issued in Accra, the ministry cautioned all training institutions to strictly adhere to the approved fees and warned that no institution is permitted to impose additional or unauthorized charges. Principals who violate the directive, it added, would do so at their own risk.
The reduction, according to the ministry, reflects the commitment of President John Dramani Mahama to provide financial relief for parents and support students in achieving their academic and professional goals.
“The Ministry remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of students and advancing equitable access to health training education,” the statement noted.
Heads of training institutions have been directed to begin the admission process for the new academic year under the revised fee structure.
