The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has intensified preparations for the 42nd Farmers’ Day celebration with a renewed appeal for corporate Ghana and the general public to support this year’s national event scheduled to take place in Sunyani in the Bono Region.
The latest boost comes from Oboe Azema, a company based in Tamale with a branch in Accra, which has donated ten motorbikes towards the celebration.
The donation adds to an increasing list of contributions received by the ministry, including twenty motorbikes from another company, three pickup vehicles, a fifty-seater bus and a tractor with accessories.
The minister for Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, assured donors that all items received will not remain with the ministry but will be distributed directly to farmers across the country to support agricultural production and improve livelihoods.
The Ministry is therefore calling on more corporate organizations and members of the public to contribute towards the successful organization of the 42nd Farmers’ Day celebration, describing agriculture as a shared national responsibility that requires sustained investment and partnership.
Officials say motivating farmers with the right support is critical to increasing food production and strengthening the nation’s food security, stressing that every Ghanaian stands to benefit from a thriving agricultural sector.
