The 2025 edition of the annual Anidaso Easter Gala for the people of Offinso North Constituency in the Ashanti Region was a classic and historic event.
Unlike last year, when the event took place on the rough Lions Park at Akumadan, this year’s Easter soccer festival was held on the newly constructed Akumadan Lions Astro Turf, built by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Dr. Fred Kyei Asamoah, to keep faith with his constituents.
Addressing the large crowd that gathered at the new field for the four-day soccer fiesta, Dr. Asamoah stated that the gesture aimed to accelerate development, progress, and transformation in the area through sports and recreation, particularly football.
The MP reiterated that the area is rich in football talent and expressed his desire to harness these talents for greater opportunities.
“In the next five years, we must produce quality footballers who can compete well in both local and international leagues, and our new Astro Turf can host local and international competitions,” he said.
Fourteen male and five female teams from five zones – Akumadan, Afrancho, Nkenkensu, Daaso-Nkwaakwaa, and Nsenua – competed for honors on the FIFA-standardized Astro Turf, equipped with floodlights, VAR, and other amenities that allowed matches to extend into the night.
Akumadan Faith Young Boys and Akumadan Ladies, both from the Akumadan Zone, emerged winners in the male and female categories, respectively, taking home cash prizes, trophies, and medals.
All competing teams, as well as teams and individuals who excelled in the tournament, received various reward packages from the lawmaker.
The four-day soccer fiesta, which ran from Good Friday to Easter Monday, was a huge success.
