Former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, has requested to participate in the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) investigation virtually, citing health complications that have necessitated surgical procedures.
According to sources close to him, Ofori-Atta’s legal team has formally communicated his situation to the OSP and the Human Rights Court, submitting medical reports to support his claim.
The development comes as Ofori-Atta faces investigation over five separate cases, including the Petroleum and Minerals Revenue Assurance, Electricity Company Contract Termination, National Cathedral Project, Ambulance Procurement, and GRA Tax P-Fund Management.
The OSP had earlier scheduled Ofori-Atta to appear on June 2, 2025, but his legal team has requested a virtual session, citing provisions under the Electronic Transactions Act.
The OSP is yet to issue a fresh statement on how it intends to proceed, amid speculation that Ofori-Atta’s failure to appear in person could lead to his re-declaration as a wanted person and potential INTERPOL Red Notice.
The Human Rights Court is set to deliver a ruling on June 18, 2025, on Ofori-Atta’s motion seeking to restrain the OSP from declaring him wanted and removing previous declarations from its social media platforms.
