Ofori-Atta to present 2023 Budget Statement and Economic Policy today

The Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is expected to on behalf of President Akufo-Addo present to Parliament the 2023 Annual Budget Statement and Economic Policy of Government.

Ofori-Atta will be reading the budget today November 24, 2022, at 10 am.

This is in compliance with the provisions of Article 179 of the 1992 Constitution and Section 21 of the Public Financial Management Act of 2016. (Act 921).

The Ministry of Finance stated prior to the announcement that the budget would emphasize “measures to restore and stabilize the macro economy, strengthen resilience, and encourage inclusive growth and value creation.”

Updates on Ghana’s engagement with the IMF for an IMF-supported Programme; year-to-date macro-financial performance of the economy; the YouStart initiative under the Ghana CARES Programme; climate action strategies; fiscal measures; and debt management strategies to ensure fiscal and debt sustainability and promote growth were also mentioned.

It is expected the Minister of Finance will highlight pragmatic measures the government is putting in place to salvage the citizenry from the present predicament.
