A commercial motorbike rider has been killed in a tragic accident at Tetegu on the Accra-Kasoa road on Wednesday evening.
The rider, who worked from Old Barrier along the Tetegu-Weija stretch, was carrying a passenger when his motorbike was struck by a speeding commercial bus around 6 p.m. Eyewitnesses say the bus, popularly called trotro, ran over the rider, crushing his head. He died instantly.
The passenger, however, survived but sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
According to witnesses, the trotro driver sped off after the crash, leaving behind the mangled motorbike and the injured passenger. Police later conveyed the deceased’s body to the mortuary while efforts are underway to trace the driver.
Residents at the scene described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that the rider was well known in the Old Barrier area where he worked as an okada operator.
