Okagyakrom SHS teacher in scandal after KNUST SHS case

Public outrage is growing after yet another disturbing video surfaced, this time showing a teacher from Okagyakrom Senior High School in the Oti Region allegedly engaging in a sexual act with a female student in his office.

The video, which has spread widely online, has triggered calls for the immediate arrest of the teacher. Many Ghanaians say the incident emphasizes a troubling trend of misconduct in schools and the urgent need for stronger accountability.

This development follows closely on the heels of a similar scandal at KNUST Senior High School in Kumasi, where the Assistant Headmaster of Academics, Charles Akwasi Aidoo, was captured in a viral video in a compromising situation with a female student. He was dismissed by the Ghana Education Service on September 29, 2025.

While public anger mounts over the Okagyakrom incident, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection says it is currently focused on ensuring the arrest and prosecution of the dismissed KNUST assistant headmaster.

Gender Minister Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey confirmed on Wednesday, October 1, that her outfit is collaborating with the police to bring Mr. Aidoo to justice. She made the disclosure during a working visit by Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to the ministry.

“The recent one is the report of the female student at KNUST with the assistant headmaster. Even though GES, through the school, dismissed him, we are collaborating with the police to effect the arrest of the perpetrator,” Dr. Lartey said.

For now, the case at Okagyakrom has not yet come under the attention of the ministry, but it is expected to intensify the national debate over the safety of students and the conduct of teachers in Ghana’s schools.
