Okudzeto Ablakwa Goes for “Fortification” from the Apostolic Fathers

Member of Parliament for the North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has responded to calls from a group of the clergy called the Apostolic Fathers.

This invitation is on the back of claims and statistics put out there by the Member of Parliament which needed clarification and verification.

Mr Ablakwa presented before the group facts and figures dug into the building of the National Cathedral.

The National Cathedral is a planned interdenominational Christian cathedral scheduled to be built in Accra.

The design for the cathedral was unveiled by the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in March 2018 and has since raised eyebrows amongst Ghanaians.

Their worry stems from the fact that although it is a wonderful and thoughtful project, the country does not have the means to finance such a project at a time as this.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on Friday, March 10, 2023, Okudzeto Ablakwa stated that beckoning on prayers laid on him he is revitalized to bring out more facts about the entire project to save the scarce resources of the country.

The estimated amount for the building of the National Cathedral was a $100 million but now $ 450 million dollars.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has mounted a spirited campaign against Rev. Kusi Boateng whom he accused of having a double identity.

Rev. Kusi Boateng who is also the Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral has been accused of a conflict of interest following some monies he received from the National Cathedral Board of Trustees under a different name.

He, however, secured a 10-day injunction barring the North Tongu lawmaker from making further “disclosures of private documents, correspondence, communication and property belonging to the applicant” on February 3.

Lawyers for the plaintiff filed a contempt application against the MP after he was caught on video kicking an interim injunction obtained in connection with a defamation suit filed against him.

However, the High Court in Accra on February 21, directed lawyers for the Secretary to the National Cathedral’s Board of Trustees, Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, also known as Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, to properly serve North Tongu Member of Parliament, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on the contempt proceedings against the legislator.
