The Ghana Police Service has arrested one person in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
The arrest was made by “a special team deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno.”
“The special team… has arrested one person in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region on 8th February 2026,” the statement said.
The suspect, identified as Simon Apusiga, also known as Ananga, is a 42-year-old man who was picked up on February 10, 2026.
“The suspect, Simon Apusiga, alias Ananga, aged 42, was arrested… following an intelligence-led operation at his hideout in the Tarkwa Huni Valley area,” the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) disclosed.
Preliminary investigations, according to the police, show that the suspect escaped from the crime scene shortly after the incident.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect fled Zebilla shortly after the incident and was traced to the Western Region,” the release added.
The police say the suspect is currently in custody and is cooperating with investigators.
“The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting investigations, and will be put before court to face the full rigours of the law,” the statement noted..
