One person has died and 14 others sustained injuries in a road crash involving a MAN Diesel truck and a Toyota Hiace at Bunso on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
The accident occurred when the MAN truck, which was travelling towards Accra, reportedly veered into the opposite lane and collided with the Toyota Hiace, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
According to the Bunso Fire Station, a distress call was received at about 7:30 p.m. A six-member team was immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene at about 7:46 p.m.
An eyewitness told emergency responders that the MAN truck, with registration number AS 4765-11, was attempting to make way for a Toyota Vitz that was allegedly overtaking improperly.
The manoeuvre reportedly caused the truck to cross into the opposite lane, where it struck the side of the Toyota Hiace, registered ER 655-25.
The impact partially damaged the front portion of the truck, while the Hiace suffered extensive damage along its side.
Firefighters attended to the injured and assisted in retrieving personal belongings from the vehicles. However, a female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The exact circumstances that led to the crash remain unclear. Investigations are expected to establish the sequence of events and determine what caused the collision.
