An advocacy group, The One Ghana Movement, has condemned the government’s directive to close all land borders, citing discrimination and unconstitutionality.
The closure, enforced by Interior Minister Henry Quartey, disproportionately affects citizens registered to vote but returning by road.
In a statement on Saturday, Director Senyo K. Hosi highlighted the inconsistency, noting air travelers face no restrictions.
The group warns of potential legal challenges and disturbances to national peace.
The Movement urges President Akufo-Addo and authorities to reopen borders, ensuring all eligible Ghanaians can vote.
They also expressed concerns over alleged unlawful media restrictions by the Ashanti Regional Security Council.
The group appealed for fair, transparent elections, urging authorities to uphold Ghana’s democratic integrity.
They demanded the National Election Security Taskforce denounce unauthorized actions.
