The organizers of the One Humanity International Beach Soccer Cup Ghana 2026 have announced a postponement of the tournament, which was originally scheduled to take place from 8th to 10th May 2026 in Accra.
In a press statement issued in Accra, the organizing committee explained that recent tidal activity and ongoing coastal erosion have significantly affected the specific section of Laboma Beach earmarked for the competition. According to the organizers, the affected area no longer meets the technical, safety, and infrastructure standards required to host an international beach soccer event.

The planned venue had been designated for the construction of a temporary beach soccer arena and supporting event infrastructure, but assessments revealed that the site had become unsuitable within the required timeframe. Despite consultations and efforts to explore alternative venues, organisers were unable to secure a replacement location that meets operational and compliance requirements ahead of the scheduled dates.
The tournament is delivered under the framework of the One Humanity Campaign of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and is also supported by Beach Soccer Worldwide as well as the National Sports Authority (Ghana).
Organisers stressed that the decision, though difficult, aligns with the standards and values of these partner institutions, particularly in ensuring athlete safety, event integrity, and proper competition conditions.
“We remain committed to the long-term vision of developing beach soccer in Ghana and promoting international sporting collaboration under the One Humanity initiative,” the statement noted.
While the May edition will no longer go ahead, the organisers have confirmed plans are underway to reschedule the tournament for October 2026. Further details, including updated fixtures and venue arrangements, are expected to be communicated once final confirmations are made.
The committee expressed gratitude to all partners, stakeholders, media organisations, and supporters for their continued understanding and commitment to the initiative, emphasizing that preparations will continue once suitable conditions are secured.
