Otto Addo has made it clear that he will not resign from his position as Head Coach of the Black Stars, despite the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Addo has faced stern criticism following the Black Stars’ disappointing performance, finishing fourth in Group F of the qualifiers with just 3 points from 6 games.
In the wake of this setback, many Ghanaians have called for him to resign, but he has firmly rejected those demands, asserting his commitment to improving the team.
“If you know where I have come from as a person to arrive at this job, you wouldn’t even ask about resignation. It’s not part of my mindset and it’s not who I am. People shouting and telling me to resign can’t affect me,” he stated.
Otto Addo issued an apology for failing to qualify the team, “If you want me to apologize, then I apologize. I am so, so sorry that we have not qualified for the AFCON. I know how Ghanaians feel.”
Meanwhile, the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) will hold a meeting on Wednesday to discuss the team’s underperformance and make critical decisions regarding coach Otto Addo’s future.
