Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has recently visited the Greater Accra Regional Hospital to express his heartfelt appreciation to the staff and management for their unwavering dedication to providing essential healthcare. The visit, which took place on Monday, saw Addo, alongside members of the national team’s technical staff, commending the hospital’s commitment to quality care despite ongoing financial and operational challenges.
During his visit, Addo made it clear that the hospital’s efforts over the past year had not gone unnoticed. He particularly recognized their consistent service to the community, especially for those who struggle to afford medical care. “Big, big respect for what you have been doing the last year,” he said, highlighting the remarkable resilience shown by the medical professionals at the hospital.
The Black Stars head coach also reassured the hospital that this visit was just the beginning of an ongoing relationship. He stressed that the national football team would continue to offer support in various forms. “This won’t be the last time that we can find a solution to continuously support you,” Addo remarked. His words reflected a deep sense of collaboration, reinforcing the importance of partnerships between national institutions, healthcare providers, and the community at large.
Addo’s visit was also an opportunity to encourage public involvement in supporting the hospital. He made an appeal to Ghanaians to recognize the critical role that institutions like the Greater Accra Regional Hospital play in ensuring the well-being of the population. “We really appreciate what this institution is doing for the people here in Accra,” he said, urging the public to contribute in whatever way they could to help meet the hospital’s needs, which remain substantial.
The visit was not just about words of appreciation; it was part of an ongoing effort by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Black Stars technical team to build stronger ties with the community. Led by GFA President Kurt Okraku, the delegation aimed to foster a sense of unity and collective responsibility in supporting essential public services, especially in the healthcare sector.
Otto Addo emphasized that the challenges faced by healthcare institutions like the Greater Accra Regional Hospital are shared by the wider community. By coming together to provide both material and moral support, Ghanaians can help ensure that these institutions continue their vital work.
