The Manhyia Palace in Kumasi has announced that the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has set 30th November 2025 and 1st December 2025 as the concluding sessions for the Bawku chieftaincy conflict mediation process.
In a statement from the Office of the Asantehene, signed by Chief of Staff Kofi Badu, the Otumfuo commended both factions involved in the conflict for their cordial relations and cooperation throughout the mediation process.
The Bawku conflict, which erupted in November 2021, remains volatile following attempts to install a rival chief at Nalerigu.
The clashes have claimed thousands of lives and spread to several parts of the country, including Nalerigu, Binduri, Walewale, Bolgatanga, Kumasi, and Accra.
Some areas like Binduri still remain volatile as five people were killed during curfew hours on 7th November, 2025.
