Owusu Bempah’s behavior ungodly – Ahiagbah

Former Executive Director of Danquah Institute, Richard Ahiagbah, has condemned in no certain terms the actions of controversial clergyman, Isaac Owusu Bempah.

He said although there are religious leaders who contribute to the progress of the nation, the behavior of the reverend minister was strange, making reference to his poor language of expression and audacity with which he makes his utterances.

The NPP communicator could not fathom what influenced his behavior, adding that the character of the popular preacher is a bad precedent for young people who have the appetite to perpetrate violence.

Isaac Owusu Bempah was apprehended by the Ghana Police Service with three others on Sunday, September 12, 2021, after attacking and assaulting some officers deployed to his church to cause his arrest.

The outspoken pastor had invaded the residence of fetish priestess, Patience Aseiduaa, known popularly as Nana Agradaa.

In a viral video, the preacher with close ties to the presidency was captured with his bodyguards brandishing weapons at the house of the fetish priest who had earlier infuriated him.

Commenting on the news on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana Tuesday, Richard Ahiagbah said, I approach this conversation rather cautiously in understanding that there are religious leaders out there who are committed and are doing what they can to help this country move forward.”

Richard Ahiagbah, however, indicated that the scenes he observed in the video of the man that had a long tussle with the police before his arrest was simply distasteful.

But the series of videos and the events leading to the arrest which was resisted earlier and effected much later. I find this repugnant,” he indicated.

Mr. Ahiagbah questioned the power he has to act in the manner he behaves, stressing that he cannot explain what could make Rev. Bempah walk into peoples’ privacy with such abusive words.

“I don’t think that there is any space for anyone to want to act in those manners. I don’t understand the context in which he went to somebody’s house and the manner in which people were talking in very unacceptable language,” he contemplated.

The NPP spokesperson was baffled by the smugness often exhibited by the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, saying he cannot understand what incites him.

He said, “the bravado seems to me that something is amiss and you’re not sure exactly what is motivating that behavior. Is that religious behavior? I don’t see that as acceptable. And the bad behavior he is setting for young people. Brandishing weapons and the sheer feeling of over-importance and feeling as though that he runs this country,”

“I don’t find it funny and I don’t think that he should be countenanced at all under any circumstance,” he added.

Owusu Bempah back in police custody

Rev Owusu Bempah reported sick at the Police Hospital moments after he and three others, were remanded on Monday.

Rev Bempah and three others are expected to reappear before the Accra Circuit Court on Monday, September 20 for the next hearing.

The Head Pastor has been charged with offensive conduct, conducive to the breach of peace and threat of death.
