Palgrave Boakye-Danquah named National Coordinator of OAK Campaign for Kennedy Agyapong

Supporters of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, have unveiled a grassroots campaign platform dubbed OAK which stands for Ohene Agyapong Kennedy to rally momentum ahead of the party’s January 2026 primaries.

The movement, according to its conveners, draws inspiration from the oak tree, a symbol they say reflects Mr. Agyapong’s political resilience and connection to the grassroots.

“The oak tree stands tall against the winds of adversity, much like Agyepong’s unwavering commitment to the teaming party grassroots and the people of Ghana at large,” the release noted.

The announcement was accompanied by the appointment of Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, former government spokesperson under President Akufo-Addo, as the group’s national coordinator.

The release said his new role reflects “the confidence in his leadership, dedication and passion for the reorganization of our dear New Patriotic Party and flagbearer hopeful Ohene Agyapong Kennedy.”

OAK, which organizers describe as distinct from the official Agyapong campaign, is positioned as a supporter-led political action network. Its aim, they explained, is to sustain a broader movement that “mirrors global examples like ‘Obama for America’ in its grassroots energy but is tailored to Ghana’s delegate drive in the NPP primaries and economic-focused electorate.”

The group also emphasized that its central message lsol revolve around Mr. Agyapong’s self-styled “PHD” doctrine (Patriotism, Honesty, Discipline) to rally NPP delegates, youth, and ordinary Ghanaians around his vision for economic transfotism, Honestycreation, and anti-corruption governance.

Conveners pointed out that Mr. Agyapong’s strong showing in the last NPP contest has positioned him as a frontrunner for the party’s 2028 flagbearer slot. OAK, they argue, represents a shift from “fiery talk” to “focused action”, highlighting his investments in agriculture, media, industry and real estate as practical contributions to nation-building.

Dr. Boakye-Danquah, who has long been vocal in support of Mr. Agyapong’s bid, was described in the statement as the “variable” needed to unify the party. The release said his experience in governance, security and communications equips him to “orchestrate a multi-faceted strategy… focusing on delegate capture for the NPP primaries, national voter mobilization and policy amplification.”

Other key appointments to the OAK team include Dr. John Kinyorbaan Gabulja as National Organizer, Lawrence Tinforce Amenuku as Communications Director for the Coastal Belt, Richmond Arthur-Baidoo for the Middle Belt, and Emmanuel Adjei Domson for the Northern Belt.

Yaa Ansah Safori was named National Women’s Organizer, while Williams Kofi Toku takes charge of marketing and advertising.
