Parliament sets 2026–2030 agenda for transparency and service delivery

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has launched a new Corporate Strategic Plan to guide the work of Parliament of Ghana from 2026 to 2030, with a focus on stronger oversight, improved service delivery, and greater transparency.

The plan is intended to shape how Parliament carries out its core duties over the next five years while helping the institution become more responsive to the needs of citizens. Speaking at the launch, the Speaker said the document would serve as a practical roadmap to strengthen accountability and build a more effective legislature.

He stressed that the strategy is aimed at deepening public trust by ensuring that Parliament delivers on its mandate and remains open and accessible to the people it serves.

The event brought together key parliamentary leaders and development partners, including Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, Deputy Minority Leader, Patricia Appiagyei, and First Deputy Speaker, Bernard Ahiafor. Also present were the Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror; Executive Director of Transparency International Ghana, Mary Addah; and Hooman Nouruzi of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

The five-year plan is expected to guide institutional reforms and strengthen Parliament’s role in holding government to account while improving how it serves the public.
