People told my family I was mad when I started skits– Dr. Likee

Ebenezer Akwasi Antwi popularly known as Dr. Likee , recounts his rocky shift from Kumawood “bad boy” villain to YouTube comedy kingpin a journey mocked as “madness” by doubters who told his family he’d lost his mind.

On 3MusicTV, he revealed that even after years in the spotlight, some still label him unstable. Typecast as gangsters in fading Kumawood films, Dr Likee pivoted to skits and digital content, ignoring the ridicule.

When he started dressing in weird costumes and acting “foolish” for YouTube skits, the public who were used to his serious, “tough guy” image didn’t understand the change.

His persistence paid off from 2020–2022 viral hits made him a national icon, eclipsing his movie days. In 2022, he snagged Comic Actor of the Year at the Entertainment Achievement Awards, vindicating his vision.

Now, he mentors over 80 talents like Kyekyeku and Opoku Bilson, transforming “madness” into Ghana’s digital comedy revolution.
