Traditional leaders, policymakers, business figures and development advocates have called for stronger partnerships to unlock economic opportunities, create jobs and accelerate sustainable development in Axim and the wider Nzema Traditional Area.
The call was made at the Axim Business & Development Summit 2026, held under the theme “Creating Partnerships for Sustainable Development and Jobs.” The summit brought together key stakeholders to explore practical ways of turning the area’s economic potential into opportunities that can benefit local communities.
Addressing the gathering, the Paramount Chief of Lower Axim, Awulae Attibrukusu III, joined the Member of Parliament for the Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency and Axim native, Hon. Kofi Arko Nokoe, and other distinguished guests in discussions centred on local development and job creation.
Participants emphasised the importance of collaboration among traditional authorities, government, businesses and development partners, arguing that sustainable growth would require stakeholders to work together rather than pursue development efforts in isolation.
Ms. Eva Mends, Chairperson of the Kundum Planning Committee and Sompahene of the Axim Traditional Area, summed up the message of the summit, saying, “When partners connect, local economic development becomes an ecosystem.”
Beyond the discussions on development, the summit also provided an opportunity to celebrate Nzema heritage and identity. Traditional rulers appeared in colourful regalia, while a vibrant display of traditional dance added a strong cultural dimension to the event.
The summit ultimately underscored the need for meaningful partnerships to translate Axim’s local potential into sustainable jobs, investment and long-term development for communities across the area.
