The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has visited victims of the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment stampede as well as families who lost loved ones, offering reassurance that the country stands with them.
The Minister spent Thursday at the 37 Military Hospital, where she met injured applicants who were receiving treatment after the stampede at the El Walk Stadium.
She spoke with the victims about their recovery and delivered a message of solidarity on behalf of the government and the wider public.
She said the President had asked her to let them know that the nation was firmly behind them. She encouraged the victims to keep hope, adding that she believed they would recover and rebuild their futures.
Dr Lartey also thanked the medical team and the hospital leadership for their quick response and dedicated care.
Later in the day, the Minister, accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Defence, Brogya Genfi and officials from her ministry, visited bereaved families in Adenta and Kpone Katamanso.
She offered condolences and assured them of continued support as they navigate their loss. She said she believed God would comfort them in this moment of deep grief, adding that the ministry would stay with them through the healing process and make sure their future does not end with this tragedy.
She is expected to visit the remaining affected families in the coming days.
