PINK LADIES CUP: Hong Kong Withdraws Amid Middle East Unrest

The Hong Kong women’s national team has officially withdrawn from the 2026 Pink Ladies Cup in Dubai, citing safety concerns for players and staff.

The decision comes amid rising unrest in parts of the Middle East in recent days. In a statement, the Hong Kong Football Association confirmed that the team has suspended all outdoor activities and remains sheltered at their hotel as a precaution.

Authorities are said to be in close contact with the squad, closely monitoring developments and providing necessary support to ensure their safety.

Hong Kong had opened their campaign with a 4-0 defeat to Ghana’s Black Queens and were scheduled to remain in Dubai until March 8. However, the sudden escalation of tensions in the region left the team temporarily stranded at their hotel.

Team captain Ma Chak-shun released a video on March 2 to reassure supporters that the players and staff are safe.
