Police in Upper East Region have arrested 14 people suspected of cultivating and distributing narcotic drugs at Daliga in the Nabdam District.
The suspects were arrested on 16th August 2026 during an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Police Intelligence Directorate and the newly formed Black Cobra Team.
Police said a search of the area uncovered a large quantity of suspected narcotic drugs hidden in sacks of millet and maize.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Indian hemp was being cultivated alongside millet and maize, allegedly to conceal the farms and make them harder for security officers to detect.
The police also suspect that those arrested were supplying narcotic drugs to several dealers operating in different parts of the Upper East Region.
The suspects have been identified as Alex Nyaaba, Charles Keleg Dombil, Zimi Pandam, Jennifer Ziini, Tobirr Naab, Yinteng James, Tosil Wandabil, Sandanane Peehim, Borimi Nohoo, Curim Teng, Curim Kugri, Nohou Dagobila and Abane Zangbeog.
They remain in police custody as investigations continue.
The police said the suspects would be put before the court to face the law.
