Police arrest herdsman for stealing 20 cows worth GH₵200k

The Gomoa Dominase District Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old herdsman, Umaru Abdulai, for allegedly stealing 20 cows valued at GH₵200,000.

The incident occurred at the Gomoa Dominase Onion Market in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.

The police say Abdulai and his accomplices stole the cows from various individuals in the area and sold them to butchers at Awutu Bawjiase.

The police said the suspect used part of the proceeds to purchase additional cows from the northern region, which he added to his father’s livestock.

One of the victims, Umar Inusah, told Adom FM that the suspects would pretend to be ordinary market-goers during the day, identifying large cows to steal at night.

He said a vigilant farmer alerted a police officer, leading to Abdulai’s arrest, while his accomplices remain at large.

Inusah appealed to the government to address the disturbances caused by Fulani herdsmen in the area.

The police are investigating the incident and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
