Police arrest three more over killing of Indian businessman

The Ghana Police Service has arrested three more individuals in connection with the murder of Indian businessman, Devendra Singh, increasing the number of suspects in custody to four.

According to police, the victim had initially been declared missing, leading to investigations and a search operation to determine his whereabouts.

Police say a breakthrough in the case occurred on April 25, 2026, around 2:00 p.m., after officers received intelligence about an abandoned vehicle near Sabin Akrofuom, close to the Royal Lemosey Hospital.

A police team dispatched to the scene found the vehicle parked along the roadside. A search conducted on the vehicle revealed the body of Devendra Singh in the boot with multiple stab wounds.

Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, May 8, the Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, said intelligence-led operations carried out on April 29 and 30 resulted in the arrest of Osman Moro, popularly known as Tiago, Hakim Kudjoe Jnr, and Moro Sulley, also known as Moro Aboboyaa.

She explained that the arrests followed the earlier detention of another suspect, John Adokpo, alias Peter.

Police investigations indicate that Hakim Kudjoe Jnr admitted involvement in the crime and disclosed that he visited the deceased’s workplace on April 24, where he allegedly replaced the CCTV server with the assistance of Moro Sulley.

He later led investigators to the location where the CCTV server had been hidden and it was subsequently retrieved.

Police further stated that Hakim Kudjoe Jnr confessed to taking the deceased’s iPhone 17 Pro Max and a Tecno mobile phone after the incident. Investigators say the iPhone was handed over to Osman Moro at Kaase, while the Tecno phone was given to Moro Sulley.

Osman Moro later assisted police to recover the iPhone from a nearby bush where it had allegedly been buried in a brown envelope and covered with leaves.

ACP Ansah-Akrofi noted that investigations identified Moro Sulley as the person who aided in replacing the CCTV server at the victim’s workplace.

She added that suspect John Adokpo admitted driving the deceased’s vehicle to the area where it was later discovered.

“All the suspects remain in police custody assisting investigations, while efforts are underway to apprehend two other persons believed to be linked to the case,” ACP Ansah-Akrofi stated.
