Police Inspector interdicted over unprofessional conduct

Inspector Kennedy Martey Ampofo, stationed in the Sampa District Command in the Bono Region, has been charged with professional misconduct by the Police Administration.

Inspector Ampofo allegedly handcuffed one Frank Kofi Adu and failed to take him through due process, according to a statement published and signed by DSP Patrick Okai Kodjoe, the Acting Bono Regional Head of the Police Public Affairs Unit.

“The Police Inspector has been referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to allow for a comprehensive inquiry into the situation,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, the Police Administration also interdicted a Police Inspector, Sulemana Adam, for negligently leaving a service rifle in a commercial vehicle last week.

Inspector Adam, stationed with the Rapid Deployment Force, Takoradi in the Western Region has been referred to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to allow for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A statement issued by the Head of the Public Affairs Unit in the Western Region, Madam Olivia E.T. Adiku said the rifle has since been returned by the driver of the said vehicle who also alleged that the Inspector had extorted money from him.

Both the Inspector and the driver are assisting in the investigation.
