Police have arrested a man captured in a widely shared video assaulting a woman, following public outrage and swift investigations by the Ghana Police Service.
The suspect, Christford Affadu Danful, also known as Ekow Black, was arrested on Thursday, 15 January 2026, through an intelligence led operation by the Criminal Investigation Department with support from the Inspector General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team. The arrest came after the video circulated on social media and drew widespread condemnation.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that the suspect and the woman had previously lived together and had a history of disagreements. These disputes reportedly escalated from verbal confrontations into repeated physical assaults, culminating in the incident captured on video.
Danful is currently in lawful custody and is expected to be put before the court to face charges in accordance with the law.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public of its commitment to protecting lives, enforcing the law, and dealing decisively with acts of violence, especially those involving the abuse of vulnerable persons.
