A 19-year-old senior high school student is in hospital after being hit by a stray bullet during a police operation at Danchira.
Nii Lamptey was injured as officers tried to disperse a group of residents who had gathered during a demolition exercise on a 700 acre piece of land. Witnesses say tensions rose when some residents began attacking the Danchira Police Station, prompting police to respond.
The student was caught in the disturbance and was struck by a bullet amid the efforts to control the crowd.
He is currently receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre.
Authorities have not yet commented in detail on the circumstances leading to the shooting.
