Political parties demand transparency from Electoral Commission on voter transfers

Youth Organizers from the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) and the People’s National Convention (PNC) have formally requested an immediate disclosure of voter transfer figures from the Electoral Commission (EC).

The request was directed to Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensah, Chairperson of the EC, emphasizing the urgent need for transparency and accountability in the electoral process.

Jude Balma, the National Youth Organizer for GCPP, and Mark Ewusi Arkoh, his counterpart at PNC, jointly penned the letter.

They stressed that access to updated voter transfer information is essential for strategic planning and political decision-making.

The youth leaders pointed out that more than a week has passed since the commencement of voter transfers, yet the EC has failed to provide any progress updates.

The organizers highlighted that the lack of transparency from the EC is not only unacceptable but also raises serious concerns about the commission’s commitment to upholding the integrity and credibility of the elections.

They warned that failure to promptly provide the requested information would cast doubt on the EC’s sincerity and neutrality.

The letter, also copied to the Right to Information (RTI) Commission, and all political parties, called for a detailed regional breakdown of voter transfers.

Balma and Arkoh emphasized that this information is a right of critical stakeholders in the electoral process and essential for maintaining public trust in the electoral system.
