POLITICAL PARTIES URGED TO BE MEASURED IN THEIR UTTERANCES

Former Upper East Regional Coordinating Directorator and Chief for the Gumbo traditional area Naba Pipirig Liebuog Azonko has urged political parties in the Bawku area to be measured in their utterances in order not to escalate the already existing volatile situation. He made the statement during the Azoka Day celebration at the Bawku Senior High School.

The Azoka Day celebration is a celebration earmarked to climax the traditional rule of the people of Kusaug. It is a platform to foster peace and unity among people and educate the young ones on the culture and traditions of the people.

At this year’s celebration, the Gumbo Naba used the platform to admonish political parties to be vigilant in their activities in order not to reignite violence which is almost buried in the area.

An associate professor of World Christianity and Islam, Rev. Professor John Azumah admonished the youth to stay peaceful and called on the Ghanaian leadership to implement laws in the area in order to maintain everlasting peace.
