“Politicians in legal attire” – NDC’s Hamza Suhuyini takes aim at Special Prosecutor

NDC communicator, Hamza Suhuyini has accused the Special Prosecutor of using public narratives to distract from its core mandate, calling the staff of the OSP “politicians in legal attire.”

He made the remarks during a discussion with Moro Awudu on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, where he argued that recent actions and public statements from the Special Prosecutor and his staff raise concerns about credibility.

Hamza pointed to several incidents he believes show a pattern of deflecting attention. He referenced the OSP’s handling of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s travel outside the country, during which the Special Prosecutor said he lacked the power to stop him.

He also mentioned the arrest of lawyer Martin Kpebu, and a recent claim by an OSP staff member that Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng had narrowly escaped an assassination attempt by unknown attackers.

According to Hamza, these accounts do little to advance any ongoing investigations and instead create confusion.

He questioned the latest claim from OSP staffer Sammy Darko, saying it was troubling that he alleged the Special Prosecutor had been assaulted by 17 police officers and could “count them” under such circumstances.

Hamza insisted that these stories distract from the substantive issues the OSP is mandated to pursue and said the frequency of such narratives has become difficult to ignore.
