President Mahama directs immediate probe into JoyNews mining tax report

President John Mahama has ordered an immediate investigation into allegations raised in a JoyNews report concerning a mining equipment tax in Amansie Central, directing swift action against anyone found responsible for wrongdoing.

The directive follows a report by JoyNews that brought to light concerns surrounding the handling of the mining equipment tax in the Amansie Central area.

In response, the President instructed the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon Ahmed Ibrahim, to urgently look into the claims and ensure that any official found culpable faces appropriate sanctions.

Earlier in the day, the Minister received a formal petition from JoyNews detailing the issues raised in the report. He assured the petitioners that the matter would be treated with urgency and thoroughness.

The President’s intervention signals the seriousness with which the government is treating the allegations, amid growing public interest in transparency and accountability in the management of local revenue and mining related levies.
