President John Dramani Mahama has announced key appointments to strengthen Ghana’s national security apparatus.
The new appointments, aimed at improving the country’s security infrastructure and ensuring a coordinated response to emerging threats, reflect the President’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and national interests.
Former Chief of Staff, Prosper Douglas Bani, has been appointed National Security Advisor to the president.
Mr. Bani, who also served as the Minister for the Interior, brings a wealth of experience in governance and national security matters.
His appointment is expected to enhance the strategic direction of security policy under the Mahama administration.
In a move to ensure cohesion and streamlined security operations, DCOP Abdul-Osman Razak will serve as the National Security Coordinator. In this role, he will oversee the coordination of all security initiatives and ensure a unified approach across various agencies tasked with national security.
Further strengthening the security framework, COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd) has been appointed as Director of Operations at the Presidency.
COP Boakye’s extensive background in law enforcement will ensure operational effectiveness and efficient handling of security matters at the presidential level.
Additionally, Charles Kipo has been named Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB). Kipo’s appointment is seen as a significant move to bolster intelligence gathering and improve the country’s overall security intelligence infrastructure.
