President Mahama names first batch of ministerial nominees

President John Dramani Mahama has submitted his first set of ministerial nominations to Parliament, in accordance with Article 78 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

The nominees include Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson for Minister for Finance, John Abdulai Jinapor for Minister for Energy, and Dominic Akuritinga Ayini for Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.

According to the presidency, Dr. Forson brings extensive experience in public finance, macroeconomics, fiscal policy, tax policy, and business management to the finance ministry.

A five-term lawmaker, Dr. Forson holds a PhD in Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

John Jinapor, on the other hand, is expected to bring “much-needed dynamism and capabilities to transform the energy sector” with his extensive qualifications in energy economics and finance.

Dr. Ayine, a senior lawyer with three decades of experience, has previously served as Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice. He holds a Ph.D. in law from Stanford University.

The nominations are subject to approval by Parliament
