Asante Kotoko and midfielder Prince Badu have mutually agreed to part ways, Original TV Sports can confirm, as the Porcupine Warriors continue their squad restructuring ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The 26-year-old central midfielder joined Asante Kotoko from Nations FC in January 2026 on a contract that was set to run until 2028. However, Badu has now been deemed surplus to requirements by head coach Eric Tinkler and the club’s technical team.
His departure comes as Asante Kotoko intensifies plans to reshape the squad following a disappointing campaign. The club is expected to make further changes as Tinkler works with the technical team to build a squad capable of competing more strongly in the upcoming season.
Badu’s exit had been anticipated in recent weeks, with reports indicating that the midfielder was among a number of players expected to leave the club as part of the restructuring process.
His short spell at Kotoko therefore comes to an end just months after his arrival from Nations FC.
The decision to part ways is understood to have been reached mutually, bringing an end to Badu’s time with the Porcupine Warriors without a prolonged separation process.
The midfielder now becomes part of the first phase of Asante Kotoko’s squad overhaul, with the club expected to continue assessing its playing personnel ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
